Now Foods Barley Malt Sweetener can be used to substitute for up to half the sugar content in baking recipes. It is also tasty and useful in hot cocoa or carob and malted milk shakes. Barley Malt is a natural sweetener derived from an extract of sprouted barley. As a sugar substitute, Barley Malt is a natural whole food and is easier on blood sugar highs and lows. We blend 10% maltodextrin (from corn) to limit clumping and allow for free flowing.
